Othaya-Mukurweini Water and Sanitation PLC (OMWASCO) proudly took part in the 2025 WASCO Games held in Kisii, hosted by Kisii Water and Sanitation Company in collaboration with the County Government of Kisii.
The WASCO Games is an annual event that brings together water service providers from across the country, serving as a platform to promote teamwork, physical fitness, mental wellness, and networking among sector players.
The official opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, Eng. Eric Murithi Mugaa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Water Services Providers Association (WASPA), Mr. Anthony Njaramba; the Deputy Governor of Kisii County, H.E. Mr. Elijah Obebo. The Governor of Kisii County, H.E. Mr. Simba Arati, officiated the closing ceremony. Their presence underscored the importance of unity, collaboration, and sportsmanship within the water sector.
OMWASCO employees actively participated in a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, volleyball, badminton, netball, and indoor games such as chess, scrabble, and draughts. The team showcased not only their sporting talent but also their commitment to teamwork, resilience, and camaraderie beyond the workplace.
Participation in the WASCO Games continues to strengthen employee relations, enhance morale and productivity, and elevate OMWASCO’s visibility and reputation within the national water sector.

On 22nd May 2025 and 6th June 2025, Othaya-Mukurweini Water and Sanitation Company (OMWASCO) staff took part in a tree planting exercise at the Aberdare’s Forest, reaffirming the company’s commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of vital water catchment areas.
The initiative aimed to restore and preserve the forest ecosystem, which plays a critical role in sustaining water sources for the surrounding communities. By planting indigenous tree species, OMWASCO seeks to combat deforestation, enhance biodiversity, and contribute to climate change mitigation.
Speaking during the exercise, company representatives emphasized that protecting water catchment areas is central to ensuring long-term water security and the provision of clean, safe water for all. The activity was carried out in collaboration with local community members, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
OMWASCO remains dedicated to integrating environmental stewardship into its operations, recognizing that a healthy ecosystem is essential for sustainable water and sanitation services.

Othaya-Mukurweini Water and Sanitation PLC (OMWASCO) successfully held a team-building exercise on 10th and 11th April 2025 at the scenic Abai Lodge and Spa in Kagio, Kirinyaga County. This is in line with company commitment to fostering teamwork, enhancing communication, and promoting a positive work culture.
The event brought together staff from various departments, providing an opportunity to step away from the daily work environment and engage in fun, interactive, and challenging activities designed to strengthen collaboration and unity.

Participants took part in a variety of exercises, including problem-solving games, trust-building challenges, and physical activities aimed at encouraging creativity, improving coordination, and boosting morale. These activities also provided a platform for employees to appreciate each other’s strengths and build stronger interpersonal relationships.
The day concluded with a reflective session where teams shared key lessons learned and pledged to apply the spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and mutual support in their daily work.
